Real-time control for industry
Bachmann electronic has taken a decisive step forward in the development of its new M100 system: The M100 platform is now becoming a standalone, complete automation system thanks to a comprehensive family of control modules. The CPU spectrum initially comprises eight models. The CPU range initially comprises eight models from the CPS100 family. They are equipped with powerful x86 processors from Intel. The performance range extends from a dual-core CPU with 1200 MHz to a quad-core module with 1.9 GHz. Technologically, the M100 system marks a paradigm shift: for the first time, Bachmann is using Linux with PREEMPT_RT configuration as the real-time operating system for a control platform. At the same time, security was considered from the start: All CPUs come standard with a TPM 2.0 chip, support Secure Boot down to the kernel, and meet the requirements of the IEC 62443 and ISO 27001 standards. Even fieldbus couplers are equipped with Secure Boot to prevent tampering in the supply chain. The usability of the engineering tools has also been redesigned. In the web-based station configurator of the SolutionCenter, channels can be configured in the same way regardless of the fieldbus used. Module channels can be assigned automatically to minimize configuration effort. Tool-free potential bridges, push-in terminals, and QR codes for quick module identification also speed up installation and commissioning. With all these innovations, robustness remains a key promise: The modules can withstand shock accelerations of up to 30 g, continuous vibrations of 6 g, operating temperatures from –30°C to +70°C, and condensation. EMC-safe metal housings, screws with captive fasteners, and a stable bus rail with screw mounting ensure maximum availability – not least in harsh environments.

Panel PC with scalable configuration for industrial applications
Bachmann electronic is launching a new product family of Panel PCs. The PPC1200 will replace the established OT1200 during the course of 2026. The PPC1200 will be available in two versions: The Eco version of the new Panel PC has been specially developed for price-sensitive industrial applications. It has one Ethernet and two USB 2.0 ports. The PPC1200 Premium, on the other hand, comes with two additional USB 3.0 and Ethernet ports, a microSD slot, and an HDMI port. The latter can be used to extend or mirror the screen content on a second monitor. The Premium version can also be customized with numerous interfaces, for example to connect an uninterruptible power supply via the serial RS232 interface, set up a RAID1 system using a second microSD card, or increase network security with additional Ethernet connections. The new Panel PC is based on state-of-the-art technology: In addition to the latest Intel Atom® processors with two (Eco) or four cores (Premium), the PPC1200 is powered by the latest LDDR5 memory modules with 4 or 8 GB capacity. Thanks to the generously dimensioned onboard mass storage of 4 GB or 16 GB, large applications with their data and alarm history can be conveniently stored directly on the base devices. The microSD slot of the PPC1200 Premium allows the data and application memory to be expanded further, and applications can be easily distributed across many devices or restored when replaced. The device can host any browser- or Linux-based applications from the areas of Edge, HMI, SCADA, BDE/ERP clients, and engineering. Operation with the pre-installable, orderable web-based visualization and SCADA software products webMI Pro® and atvise® from Bachmann is particularly convenient and cost-efficient.

Bachmann's M100 system simplifies fieldbus connection and configuration of industrial applications
Two new modules are available for the fieldbus connection of the new M100 control system from Bachmann electronic: In addition to the already launched EtherCAT coupler, modules for the CANopen and Profinet bus connection have been released, making it easy to implement industrial applications. With the M100 system, Bachmann electronic is consciously reducing the number of variants: instead of different module types with limited functions, a wide range of functions is available on the I/O modules. The M100 bus couplers for different fieldbus systems make these functions accessible independently of the fieldbus used, and configuration is always carried out in the same tool with the same “look and feel”. The bus couplers follow the M100 system philosophy: They offer state-of-the-art IT security, combined with durable hardware for continuous use in challenging environments and unmanned systems. LEDs provide intuitive information about overall station status. Additional fieldbus LEDs for 'RUN' and 'ERROR' show standardized colors and flashing patterns for the respective fieldbus. EtherCAT and Profinet stations receive addresses from the master during start-up. For the CANopen bus coupler, the address is still set via hardware switches. Fieldbus-related features such as bandwidth, addressing, missing station handling, or synchronization options do change. However, basic configurator operation remains unchanged and consistent. Troubleshooting information such as operating counters, diagnostic telegrams or emergency messages are provided to the fieldbus master according to the standard. In addition, further information can be collected via a local USB-C connection. Important data such as startup information, messages from the fieldbus stack, status changes in the local status machine, or changes in connection quality are stored in the logbook.

New processor module for industrial applications
Bachmann electronic is presenting the MX208 CPU, a new entry-level model in the proven MX series. Thanks to its high robustness in combination with very compact dimensions, the processor module is particularly suitable for uses in the maritime area. A new processor platform is at the heart of the MX208: An x86/Intel Atom processor with 400 MHz provides increased computing power, especially for small to medium-sized applications: Performance is up to four times higher than its predecessor, the MX207. The working memory has significantly increased to 512 MB. Despite its compact design, the MX208 integrates a power supply unit that can also operate the I/O modules, as well as a wide range of communication interfaces. These include a Gigabit Ethernet port, configurable serial interface, USB 3.0 connection, and galvanically isolated CAN interface. This allows use in fields such as machine control, complex communication tasks, or condition monitoring. One key innovation of the new MX generation is the use of the VxWorks 7 real time operating system, which enables reliability in multitasking execution of applications. Programming is carried out using the standard IEC 61131-3 languages, supplemented by C/C++ and MATLAB®/Simulink®, which is particularly advantageous for demanding control or monitoring tasks. If performance requirements increase, the standardized programming model allows easy migration to more powerful CPU models in the series. The MX208 operates at temperatures ranging from -30°C to +60°C, making it ideal for maritime and offshore applications. Special coating processes and a generous thermal design ensure that the CPU operates with reliability even under harsh conditions. The IP20 degree of protection and protection class III in accordance with applicable standards underlines the safety-oriented design.

Bachmann adds redundancy to model-based development
Bachmann electronic presents the new version of its software solution M-Target for Simulink®. A key highlight of M-Target 2.75 is hot-standby redundancy, which covers protection for critical applications with high availability requirements. With M-Target 2.75, developers can design and simulate their application programs directly in the graphical Simulink® environment as usual and automatically transfer them to real-time controllers—without any manual programming. Hot-standby redundancy now also enables applications to be executed in parallel on two physically separate CPU systems. In the event of an error, the standby system takes over control seamlessly, without interrupting the process or causing value jumps. This is particularly relevant for systems in harsh environments, safety-critical applications or scenarios where even short downtimes would be expensive. Redundancy extends across all system levels – from hardware to runtime software and user programs – and is fully integrated into Bachmann's engineering tools such as SolutionCenter. In addition to redundancy, M-Target 2.75 offers extended bluecom® blocks, which improve data transmission in time-critical networks. New additions include function blocks for generating, compressing, and storing WAV audio files from structure-borne noise measurement data from the AIC214 and AIC206 condition monitoring modules. In addition, errors in the logging and SVI environment have been corrected, security updates have been implemented, and support for current MATLAB®/Simulink® versions (up to 2025a) has been added. The software remains backward compatible, but requires M-Base 4.85 and the redundancy module from version 1.23R for the hot standby function. The solution can be optionally combined with the redundancy option of the atvise® scada system for high-availability visualizations.

Condition monitoring for Industry 4.0
Bachmann electronic presents a scalable smart maintenance solution for condition monitoring in the maritime environment. It allows for the gradual introduction of condition monitoring that can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of mechanical and plant engineering as well as the process and manufacturing industries. This approach enables companies to optimize their maintenance processes step by step without having to make immediate, comprehensive investments. In the first step, existing process data is systematically recorded and evaluated without the use of additional sensors. Condition monitoring is integrated directly into the control environment, ensuring fast commissioning and close coupling with other system data. In the second step, the system is expanded to include specific sensor technologies. The third stage involves the integration of a standardized CMS function. Here, not only more data is obtained from the AIC module, but it is also linked to a kinematic system model. This intelligent coupling is permitted to allow for more precise diagnostics, such as the identification of damage to bearings or gears long before a failure is imminent. The evaluation takes place directly on the controller, minimizing response times and backing up data consistency. In the fourth and final step, the system becomes a predictive maintenance solution: continuous monitoring enables critical wear to be detected at an early stage and early warnings to be triggered before damage leads to costly downtime. These monitoring solutions are based on robust and certified hardware components such as the AIC206 and AIC214 modules for recording vibration data and the CMSPLC software as a standardized application platform. In addition, WebLog Suite, a powerful condition monitoring software, offers a holistic approach to data management and data analysis.

OPC UA directly on the controller
With its comprehensive OPC UA solution, Bachmann electronic is consistently focusing on open standards to enable seamless and secure networking in automation technology. The pure software solution, which runs directly on the control CPUs without additional hardware, offers a manufacturer-independent interface for visualizations, production data acquisition, or edge/cloud solutions. Communication can be encrypted according to current security standards, ensuring protected data transfer. The OPC UA server provides complete and transparent access to the shared process data of the controller, with values, time stamps, and quality information being updated automatically. A flexible alarm system monitors variable values and displays faults with selectable acknowledgment models. OPC UA File Transfer allows access to the control system's file system, while the integrated security concept manages user-specific access rights to variables and files and logs all write accesses. Configuration is carried out centrally in the SolutionCenter, supplemented by an API for controlling the alarm system from within the application. At the same time, the OPC UA client of the control software enables data access to external servers via read, write, subscribe, and method call. Subscribe and write operations can be configured so that the values are automatically available in the process image. The supplied client library, according to PLCopen and C/C++ interfaces, offer maximum flexibility for application development. In conjunction with freely programmable methods in atvise® scada, individual private cloud solutions can be implemented. Two additional options are available for classic Windows-based environments in existing systems (brown field environment): The OPC Enterprise Server is designed for large-scale systems. The OPC Standard Server is designed for smaller installations.
