The success story of Zimmer Group
More than four decades ago, a remarkable success story began in Rheinau-Freistett, Germany: in 1980, brothers Günther and Martin Zimmer founded a small "garage company" that quickly grew into a globally recognized technology company.
Today, around 1,390 employees work under the umbrella of Zimmer Group to deliver industrial automation and high-quality components to customers around the globe.
Broad technology portfolio
Zimmer Group covers much more than just classic gripping systems: its spectrum includes handling technology, robotics, vacuum technology, linear technology, process engineering, machine technology, clamping and braking technology, damping technology, and systems engineering.
With this diversity, the company implements complete automation solutions – from modular components to complex robot and manufacturing cells as well as complete systems that are tailor-made for a wide range of industries and fields of application (e.g., furniture industry, mechanical engineering, logistics, and electronics).
With the founding of its subsidiary Zimmer Systems GmbH last year, the group has strengthened its expertise in modular automation systems, mobile robotics solutions, complete production plants, and engineering services. The new building at the headquarters in Rheinau expands capacity by 5,000 m² and provides space for further growth.
From garage to global player
What began in the early 1980s with a first series of grippers has developed over decades into a "know-how factory" that offers OEM partners worldwide integrated solutions.
With the strategic realignment in 2013, in which the original divisions merged and pooled their expertise in one company, the foundation was laid for efficiently meeting growing international demand with high-quality products. The success is reflected in impressive figures: there are over 14,000 standard products and 20 technology areas, and the products are sold in more than 125 export countries worldwide. Zimmer Group thus offers its customers not only high-quality products, but also local service, fast response times, and globally networked expertise.
