Plastic packaging, especially in the food sector, must be closed at a high rate and yet safely. Open packaging would contaminate the packaged product and thus poses a not inconsiderable potential hazard. Today, modern machines work so reliably that this problem hardly ever occurs. Nevertheless, a residual risk remains which can have major consequences - and which is very difficult to minimize through the use of a wide variety of plastic materials.
