The new Optris infrared camera Xi 05M MeltScope

Berlin, June 2025 – With the new Xi 05M MeltScope, Optris GmbH & Co. KG intro-duces a powerful infrared camera designed specifically for precise measurement of extremely high temperatures. With a continuous temperature measurement range from 950 °C to 2450 °C, it is the world's first compact IR camera of its kind – ideal for demanding metal applications such as molten metal monitoring and foundry processes.

Thanks to its short-wavelength spectral range of 500–540 nm, the Xi 05M MeltScope is perfectly suited for metallic surfaces and liquid metals. The infrared camera enables accurate temperature readings even in the presence of intense glow and reflec-tions. With a resolution of 396 × 300 pixels and a high-speed linescan mode of up to 500 Hz, it delivers reliable data even in dynamic processes – and can, in many cas-es, replace traditional dip lances entirely.

The Xi 05M MeltScope is not only efficient but also highly versatile: It features Ether-net or RS485 output, supports autonomous operation, and provides direct analog alarm outputs. The included PIX Connect software offers extensive analysis func-tions, including hot spot detection, web server capabilities, and support for industrial network protocols such as Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherNet TCP or Modbus TCP.
